Weathered asphalt shingles with loose granules

The main treatment

Stiff, Faded Shingles? St. Petersburg Shingle Rejuvenation

When the shingles have gone stiff but the roof still keeps water out, treatment puts flexibility back and slows the loss of granules.

What you are paying for

Treatment is a single application of a plant-based rejuvenating oil across the whole asphalt roof. It soaks below the surface and replaces some of the light oils that years of sun have driven out. The shingles become pliable again, so wind lifts them without snapping them, and the granules that shade the asphalt stay put for longer.

What it does not do matters just as much. It will not fix a leak, reattach a loose shingle or bring back granules that have already washed away. It is not a paint or a coating. And it is only worth doing on a roof that is still structurally sound. A hands-on inspection settles that before any quote.

Roofs that tend to qualify

  • Shingles that still lie flat and overlap properly.
  • A dull, sun-bleached look, especially on south and west slopes.
  • Granules showing up in gutters or at downspout outlets.
  • Tabs that feel stiff rather than leathery.
  • No signs of water inside the house.

Included on treatment day

  • A final walk of the roof before any spraying.
  • Covers for planting beds along every eave.
  • Protection for pool cages, lanais and parked cars.
  • Gutters checked for clear drainage.
  • Application rate matched to how dry your shingles are.
  • Hand-sprayed edges near siding, windows and trim.
  • Clean-up and a walk-round with you at the end.

How the visit goes

  1. Set up

Forecast confirmed, property covered, roof walked one last time.

  2. Apply

Low-pressure spraying, one slope at a time, the sunniest slopes first.

  3. Wrap up

Covers off, overspray checked, a short summary for you.

The weeks after

The shingles may look a touch darker for a little while as the oil settles. After that the roof looks much as before, but feels and behaves like a younger one. We phone a few weeks later to see how things look and answer any questions.

How the price is set

Three things drive it: roof area, pitch and how much product the shingles will absorb. A large, steep roof with very dry shingles costs more than a small, shallow one in better shape. The figure appears on its own line of your quote, separate from any washing or repairs, so you can see exactly what the treatment itself costs.

Mistakes we see

  • Treating a dirty roof

Oil sprayed over algae and grime sits on the growth instead of soaking into the asphalt. Wash first.

  • Waiting too long

Once shingles crack through or lose most of their stone coating, no oil will bring them back.

  • Spraying before rain

A shower within hours of application rinses product off. We only treat with a dry window ahead.

Short answers

How long until rain is fine?
A few dry hours after application. We book around the forecast.
Do I need to be out?
No. Just keep pets indoors and windows shut while we spray.
Does it change the color?
Not lastingly. A slightly deeper tone fades within weeks.

Could your roof use it?
